In our last blog, we looked at what was essential in the kitchen. Continuing the series, in this blog we explore what should be included in an Airbnb, Vrbo or any other vacation rental. This time we explore vacation rental bathroom essentials. Bathrooms and what’s included inside are key to a happy vacation.
Of course, it goes without saying that it is essential that the bathroom is very clean. But beyond that, you may wonder, “Do I need to pack my hairdryer?” when packing to stay at a vacation rental. Explore some common things to expect including towels, toiletries and toilet paper.
Towels
Towels are generally supplied when you stay at a vacation rental. A general rule of thumb is two sets of towels per person for a stay. If there is a pool, hot tub or beach nearby, beach towels may also be provided. You might even see black make-up towels. These are in addition to the minimum count and are special for when you remove your make-up, as it is difficult to get make-up stains out of white towels.

Toiletries Starter Kit
Whether travel size or in a larger pump container, you can expect to find some type of soaps and shampoo. And if you asked yourself, “Do I need to bring my hair dryer?” the answer is…it depends. Just like most hotels, many vacation rentals include a standard hair dryer for your use. But if you need a fancy blow dryer with state-of-the-art attachments, you just might want to bring your own.

Toilet Paper: The Controversy
Toilet paper is in a category all by itself. You would never imagine the amount of toilet paper provided would be controversial. A common question we hear is “How much toilet paper do you provide?” Granted during the pandemic, it was a surprise that toilet paper was the first thing to go. Who knew?? The unavailability of toilet paper kept many up at night. While not as drastic as that in vacation rentals, many don’t agree on how much toilet paper is enough.
Well, there is a recommended number of rolls an Airbnb or Vrbo bathroom should have. Two rolls per bathroom is the norm. If you’re staying longer than a week, you might see more. And let’s not get into the softness or how it should be displayed on the roll.
- 2 rolls per bathroom
Special Tip
If a bath tub is essential to you, especially if you’re traveling with children, make sure you double check the pictures and read the listing description. Many Airbnb homes have at least one tub/shower combo in the home. However, some newer homes may be built with just a walk-in shower. Know before you go.
