Not Too Late to Start Planning Your Valentine’s Day Getaway

Valentine’s Day will be here before you know it. But it’s not too late to book your romantic getaway. At Stay For Vacay, we are often asked “Where can I spend Valentine’s Day weekend?” Many vacation rentals are in locations that have exclusive amenities and provide relaxing, secluded areas that offer a quiet escape. There are a lot of possibilities whether you like the coziness of a mountain retreat in the Poconos Mountains or laying out in the sun in Florida. There are options to enjoy that Valentine’s Day getaway. But with COVID, make sure you are incorporating all of CDC guidelines for a safe weekend away.

Valentine’s Day Travel Is Not Just for Couples Anymore

There is the opportunity to create a unique experience. Valentine’s Day is made for you if you’re a couple traveling for a romantic escape with the one you love. But wait. Not just couples travel on Valentine’s Day weekend. This year Valentine’s Day has the added bonus of the long weekend for President’s Day which gives you more opportunity to explore. If you’re traveling with the kids, why don’t you just stay the whole week. Staying at a vacation rental will make it so convenient for you to do that. There’s also the girls’ trip for a fun Galentine’s Day celebration. Or even a solo traveler can have a great time. We have some tips on how to make your getaway special no matter how you are traveling.

Couples Retreat

If you’re looking for a romantic getaway to celebrate February 14th with your special loved one, we have some romantic ideas for you. And a vacation rental is the perfect place where you can cozy up to make this happen.

  • Cooking together – Vacation rentals have fully equipped chef’s kitchens so you can whip up a special romantic meal.
  • Romantic walk – Venture out and find a nice romantic path to stroll with the one you love.
  • Outdoor adventure – Take a hike! No, really, take a hike. You can find lots of adventures. Use this time to pick a new adventure with your loved one. Choose something new to both of you so you can experience it for the first time together.
  • Lounge in a private hot tub – Grab your favorite drink and head to the hot tub for a nice relaxing evening. Many vacation homes have hot tubs as an amenity.
  • Curl up in front of the fireplace – This is a classic favorite for setting the romantic mood.

Galentine’s Day Celebration

How about celebrating with a group of friends? You can start a Galentine’s Day tradition with your girlfriends. So, what is Galentine’s Day you ask? Galentine’s Day is celebrated on February 13th and is a day dedicated to showing the people that you love in your life how much you care about them.  Celebrating it in the midst of a pandemic does bring some additional challenges this year for a girls’ trip, but it is still doable. Think road trip. Book a vacation rental home in your favorite destination that’s within driving distance from you and your girlfriends. And incorporate Zoom into the plans. If someone can’t travel, you can invite them in via Zoom so no one feels alone or left out. Everyone can share in the fun. Here are some fun ways to celebrate.

  • Traditional waffle brunch – Galentine’s Day started with the waffle brunch so you may want to kick off your celebration with this tradition.
  • Have a themed dress code – Challenges your friends to come up with the perfect outfit based on the theme.
  • Face mask fashion show – Taking the themed dress code one step further, how about adding to the fashion with unique and fashionable masks.
  • Pajama party – Make sure you pack for a throwback fun time. Don’t forget your favorite snacks for the late-night fun.
  • Game night – While many vacation rentals have games available, you may want to pack your favorite games to keep everyone entertained.
  • Cook Off – Bring your favorite recipes you perfected during quarantine and have a favorite COVID recipe cook off. Sourdough bread might be one you try.

Solo Traveler

Some will suggest taking exotic trips abroad as a solo traveler. This might not be an option in the world of COVID or just not your cup of tea. There are plenty of great locations in the US that you can explore as a solo traveler. In the world of social distancing that we find ourselves in now, being a solo traveler might be even more popular for many people this year. A private vacation rental is the best place to enjoy the time as a solo traveler. Take advantage of being able to do exactly what YOU want to do. Some of the activities that we suggested for couples and Galentine’s Day, are also good ideas for the solo traveler such as a taking road trip, a long walk and linking to others via Zoom. Here are some additional ideas a solo traveler may want to consider.

  • Explore new opportunities – Borrowing from the motto of Seas Life Cottage, Seize Life at Seas Life, take this opportunity to explore and do things that have interested you and seize life!
  • Take a local tour – Venture out in your vacation destination to explore the local area.
  • Try new cuisines – Challenge yourself to try different foods. You can visit a restaurant or order your meal via a delivery app.
  • Private lesson – Learn something new that is unique to the area you are visiting.
  • Ride a bicycle – Tour the area on a rented bicycle or scooter. Many vacation destinations have them available to help you explore.
