The change of seasons can bring excitement. And with the transition from autumn to winter comes more fun things to do in the Pocono Mountains. While we get the last glimpse of the changing fall foliage, we also get to look forward to ski season. One of the great things about the Poconos is it is truly something to do every season. That’s why our motto for our Poconos vacation rental home, Ski Lift Summer Drift, is “Four Seasons of Fun All Rolled Up in One.”
CHANGING FALL FOLIAGE
Watching the leaves turn to the vivid colors of the fall foliage season brings a calming escape into nature. Leaf peeping has been a favorite pastime for many. Even more have adopted a love for it because of people taking vacations closer to home during the pandemic. As the leaves turn from green to vibrant red, burnt orange and golden yellow, the Poconos is a great place to venture out to see the changing colors of autumn.
We’re asked what’s the best way to see the changing leaves. There are many enjoyable ways. You can get outside on the many hiking trails and bicycle paths or remain in your car for a scenic drive. Leaves begin to turn colors in mid-September and peak in mid-October, but many linger past the peak time. Depending on when you come, there are also lots of festivals and activities to enjoy as well. The season is just about over, but don’t despair. Start planning now for the leaf peeping festivities next fall.
WHEN DOES SKI SEASON START IN THE POCONOS?
As the leaves are just about to be done, welcome to ski season! While it starts mid- to late November, most ski resorts open in early December, just after Thanksgiving. The season runs through late March…but sometimes early April, if there’s still lots of snow. Last year we had record breaking snow and great opportunities for skiing. Who knows?! Maybe we will be as lucky again this year.
There are several ski resorts in and around the Poconos including Blue Mountain Resort, Camelback Mountain Resort, Jack Frost Big Boulder Ski Resort, Shawnee Mountain Ski Area, Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain and Elk Mountain Ski Resort, which is just north of the Poconos. Check out this blog where we highlight the area ski resorts in more detail.
WHERE TO STAY FOR VACAY?
Ski Lift Summer Drift vacation rental townhouse is an ideal location to stay for vacay whether you’re planning to do some leaf peeping or hitting the slopes for skiing, snowboarding or tubing. Ski Lift Summer Drift is nestled between Camelback Mountain Resort and Big Pocono State Park. The vacation rental is a Ski-in/Ski-out experience as the Camelback Mountain Resort is steps away, giving you slope side access to the resort. Need a break while skiing, just walk back to the townhouse. It’s the ease and convenience of being close to the resort. After a long day of leaf peeping or skiing, return back to the vacation home for a warm beverage of your choice.
