Answers to Common Questions about Margaritaville Resort Orlando Cottages

Often times we are asked about the cottage experience for vacationers at the Margaritaville Resort Orlando, since one of our vacation rentals is a cottage at the resort. We thought it would be helpful to give our answers on some of the more common questions we often hear.

So, before we get into the questions, let’s give you some background on Margaritaville Resort Orlando. This island-inspired resort transports you into paradise at this Margaritaville themed resort. While Jimmy Buffett fans will recognize some favorite music being played around the resort, there is also live entertainment playing other popular music as well. The resort includes a hotel, cottages and an entertainment district with restaurants, shopping and entertainment. The resort earned the Tripadvisor 2020 Travelers’ Choice Award, AAA Four Diamond Award, the Knot Best of Weddings 2021, and WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Award 2021.

Now that you have an idea about Margaritaville Resort Orlando, let’s get answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.

Where is Margaritaville Resort Orlando located?

As the name implies, Margaritaville Resort Orlando is located in Orlando, Florida. Well, technically it is located just south of Orlando in neighboring Kissimmee, Florida, the home of Walt Disney World and endless other amazing and fun things to do!

It is located off US-192, also known as W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway. To get to the main entrance of the resort, go to 8000 Fins Up Circle, Kissimmee, FL 34747. There is another entrance towards the back of the resort on Formosa Gardens Blvd, directly across from the Island Grove Wine Company at Formosa Gardens. This security gate is actually is closest to the cottages.

What kind of room can I book at Margaritaville Resort Orlando?

While the hotel has 186 modern guest rooms and spacious suites, there are also private cottages many of which are also for rent. As a matter of fact, Stay for Vacay has a vacation rental cottage at Margaritaville Resort Orlando. Seas Life Cottage is a 4-bedroom, 4.5 bath vacation rental home with a private hot tub on the rear patio and unobstructed panoramic views from the 2 front balconies, all on a corner lot. What are the resort amenities at Margaritaville Resort Orlando?

At Margaritaville Resort Orlando, you can lounge by 3 separate resort pools, two of them resemble the beach with actual sand and cabanas. You can also enjoy lunch poolside at the Salty Rim Bar and Grill. Get pampered at the St. Somewhere Spa, try out the state-of-the-art fitness center, or head over to Sunset Walk for shopping, restaurants, and entertainment including live music! There is even somewhere special for the kids. The Parakeets Kids and Teen Club has special activities designed just for them. In addition, find playgrounds, a volleyball court and shuffleboard. And let’s not forget about the fur babies. The Barkaritaville dog park is available for them to run around. Of course, complimentary high-speed WIFI access is available throughout the resort, including at the cottages. If you work remotely or just need the services, there is 24-hour access to the business center in the hotel.

What is there to do at Margaritaville Resort Orlando?

Of course, there are the resort amenities for you to enjoy. In addition, the entertainment at Sunset Walk, includes GameTime, Studio Movie Grill and regularly scheduled events such as the Farmers Market and Classic Car shows on the weekends. Located right next to the resort is the Island H20 Live! Water Park. It is a separate admission, but they do run specials sometimes. Like many water parks, it is seasonal so check your dates before planning to come. The Bonkerz Comedy Club – South Orlando is at the hotel every Friday and Saturday evening with comedians from TV and the movies.   

And there is often live entertainment throughout the property. The resort has an event calendar with other fun planned activities.

With so much to do in the area, we can’t do it justice by simply mentioning it in this FAQ section, so we will do a future blog post devoted exclusively to fun things to do at Margaritaville Resort Orlando. In the meantime, to find more fun things to do in Orlando, here are some more options.

Do I get to use the resort amenities if I stay at a cottage?

This is a very common question and is a tricky one. If you book through the resort or one of the two Margaritaville Resort Orlando preferred property management companies, Rentyl/LRR or VStays, you have full access to all resort amenities. Otherwise, your resort access is limited. For instance, you will not be able to use the resort pools or the Salty Rim Bar and Grill. But you are still free to enjoy all of Sunset Walk and the hotel restaurants. Since Seas Life Cottage is managed by an approved property manager, guests that stay in this cottage have full access to all of the resort amenities, with no restrictions.

What food and drink options are available at Margaritaville Resort Orlando?

You will not go hungry with all of the restaurant options. The hotel has several including Euphoria, for upscale dining, Provisions, for grab and go, and the poolside grill, Salty Rim Bar and Grill. A short stroll from the cottages is Promenade at Sunset Walk. It is the entertainment district at Margaritaville Resort Orlando, with a list of restaurants, shopping, and entertainment.  

There are also numerous restaurants within 2 miles of the resort. Stay For Vacay has a list of over 30 restaurants in the area.

Is parking available at Margaritaville Resort Orlando?

There is free self-parking right in front of the cottages. Just drive up to the front door of the cottage you rented. By the hotel, there is also complimentary self-park and valet parking for an additional fee. Parking is limited by Sunset Walk, although they do offer valet parking at certain times. But if you are staying at a cottage, you really don’t need your car to get to the hotel or Sunset Walk. It is a short stroll or you can call the resort shuttle that will take you anywhere on the resort, including Sunset Walk.

Are pets allowed at Margaritaville Resort Orlando?

Barkaritaville is a great dog park for your dogs to play while at the resort. It’s right near the cottages and it’s fenced in. There are even two sections based on your dogs’ size…one side for small dogs and the other for larger dogs.

Some cottages are dog friendly. If you are staying in a cottage, check with the property manager before you book your stay to confirm if dogs are allowed and if there are any special requirements.

What popular attractions are close to Margaritaville Resort Orlando and how far is it from Disney World?

Even though there are many things to keep you entertained while at the resort, it IS Orlando and you want to explore all of the great attractions as well. One of the best things about the location of Margaritaville Resort Orlando is the proximity to popular attractions.

Walt Disney World is nearby with Animal Kingdom less than 4 miles away and Magic Kingdom and Epcot less than 9 miles.

Fun Fact: The cottages are so close, depending on the cottage location, you can see the fireworks show from one of the nearby Disney parks. And yes, you can see the fireworks from the balcony of Seas Life Cottage.

Margaritaville does offer complimentary transportation to Disney, Universal, and SeaWorld but reservations are suggested. For convenience, many vacationers either rent a car or take Uber/Lyft to the parks.

How do I get to Margaritaville Resort Orlando from the nearest airport?

Orlando International Airport is the closest airport to Margaritaville Resort Orlando. It’s about a 30-minute drive. The resort does not provide a shuttle but you can rent a car at the airport or take a taxi or Uber/Lyft. Depending on the time of day, the cost of the car services can range from $45-85.

Another option is Tampa International Airport. While it is about 90 miles away, sometimes you may find flights that will make it cost effective for the extra drive time.
